My EVS experience in Denmark

camping ... when I stepped on the bus I realized that I had nition or any number of second contact in case the instruction is in fact not accurate ... after the bus caught the train to Ĺrhus, somehow managed to find some of people who also go there, all along the train to Odense, then the bus to the downtown and finally slowly on foot ... that evening we sort by slepingroom, before dinner, we get instruction explained that the concept of the camp so di ko sta why... we all hung out until the early hours ... sleep 2 hours and breakfast .... nightmare .. I thought that I will zjevnit-occurred to me to be Besim how much I was tired ... day was nice we have few secion about EVs, and what we can do and what is our task during stay in Denmark .... at evening we had party at school and after some short time they took us to a concert in the city ... It was OK we had a nice time there… again, workshops and talks about EVS, Denmark and Danish culture and difference, she explained everything about the EVS contact person and contact group, and who to call in Different major cases at the end what we think about all…. In night the traditional evening ... thing like Halloween, with lot of interesting things included. ... aganin only an hour and a half of bed and breakfast ... worse than the day before ... clean the school, get instructions on everything on the bus ... and train ... and train and bus ... ... at end by foot '.. shower and a bed ....dead tired….. hahahahhaha |

my job would be something like this: come around 20-8 between the first and up to 9 cysts aquariums that are listed for that day, so breakfast at 9, and food preparation and separation for day after, and go around to feed, check fish and aquarium the regulatory aquarium, checks of water... on job is complicated to work anything by myself, because there is very high following of procedure, and i do not understand them, so for every little thing I need to ask somebody….but all in all i have fun and good time ...Today I fed smaller sharks from hand with the glove, its very interesting to play with them : D: D: D: D also with big stingray while feeding them thay come half way out of the water and splashing water and get wet all over and completely to skin,… :-) then wet like that wait for the bus in the wind and snow that fall for all time... Even when he stop on day or two still the strong wind and carrying snow from before, came to the same ... it just destroys every opportunity to explore the city, walking the nature of camping in any case limited to an stay at home ... |

First Saturday I wake up around 9 take something to eat and go in garage to chill out… almost whole day heheheh NICE.. In the evening we supposed to go in town to take a walk and to they show me some bars and place to go out… our in one bar and enough… we left to some girl apartment, little to much people there but it was nice, we return next day around 10… I was more tired then whole week.. and spend a hole day to make a laptop at least to can go on internet, nothing else is not possible, a whole day,,, beeeeed I left in bed around half pass 2 and wake up in 5 and no more sleep until work… this will be a hard day… |

29.02.2010 First day was like I expected, I mean I like it, but everything what I was doing I didn’t even imagine that somebody need to do that, but all of that is some precautions… a most of time I walk around and learning about water, fishes, food, chemicals, more new people, alllllllll….. it look like ill will not do anything for some time because there is a lot of precautions so until I learn all I´m supposed to do almost nothing… to bed L but if I give more from me I think they will let me :D….today ma let say mentor was Tenna she’s biologist , very kind girl with lot of knowledge.. and everybody else is so pleasant company all time with smile on face and net in hand heheheheh J this all will be such a joy I’m looking forward to it!!!!! i ask for those fisk i sad that i like very much and there is no problem to me get i promision to try to breed them... i like that possibility very much!!! |

28.01.2010 Finally I catch some sleep, not a lot but enough… I had a breakfast and few J coffee with Conny and Kim I try to learn how much I can in so short period so I will be easier for me later, I had so much question for them so now I have to much information to work with in short time… tomorrow is first day on job, I’m really exited for that and can not wait to see what will be my part of cake… this is first time I see a sun from minute I started way from home town, and I’m free…NICE, but I can not wait tomorrow…. |

27.01.2010 First time I go to visit Kattegat, I really hope that is a half good how I imagine.. time to go… Before hour I come back from Kattegat it was really nice, I like it very much!!! I do not even say how many aquarium and different species of fish there is, m really impressed … I think that it will be a big experience and satisfaction to work there. And people was so nice and kind everybody has come to meet (i´m sorry but I didn’t remember third of theme it´s a little bit a to much to remember a 25 people in fourn ours… in first look I already have favorite fish and aquarium where I’ll try to take place if that ill be possible… I got quick guide how, where, when, and lot lot lot lot of information about everything, Karsten show me all, how I realize he is like supervisor there but I’m not sure of that, but in every way nice and kind man. Whole team of aquarist look to be nice and I think it will be nice to work with them. On way to home I miss one bus station and must walk for 4 km on the rain, temperature under 0, and snow everywhere around, when truck pass by I got feeling like hurricane pick me up.. horrible, really not necessary but I think that this will not be a last time :D JJ I’m pretty sure … Whole afternoon I spend with host family, I try to understand when they speak to each other but I can already now stop with that because is really impossible… |

Arrival…. 25.01.2010 Everithyng started in 12 o clock in noon after non sleep night of repairing thing and empting a room in home town, first take bus to the main town, there have a lunch with friend, last word on my language… plain start a flight in 4.40 from Zagreb to Munich , it`s look like half of hour of flight not a 2.30… in Munich waited for 50 minutes for a plain for Copenhagen, again 2.30 of flight, last minutes of sleep in last hour of flight… when I landed there supposed to be guy (Rasmus) on exit of plain but for normal NO :D, and then I decide to find by my self where is a train.. (a big mistake…) after half a our of walking around, I get lucky and find a some dude who speak english and he took me to reception and in second when we come there I find a guy who supposed wait me… in the end I do not no who was a “broken phone” but to he thai told that I will come there in time when I started a flight…. We had a time to buy a ticket for train´s and drink a coffee… a train started and I could bearly keep my eyes open, but I do not no where I need to go out so I can not sleep, then some woman from train service passed and told me that I have 2 hours to destination, nice, in same minute a fall a sleep :D :D… I get of a train in Odense and found my contact person (Vivi) she, toke me to she place and give me a room to sleep until a morning when I have another train to Arhus… for my luck she printed me how I supposed to go from train to bus station there… around 10 minutes of walking (with all bag´s) and waiting of 30 minutes for start the bus… lucky number of 2.30 again pooped out… but that supposed to be last public transportation, I come out on write place in write time… finally relax of everything an looking around to see where is m new family… I wait for 40 minutes all people was gone I’m standing on wind and cold with all bags waiting.. no body there…. Then some train come and I take out my car for travel and see that there is something on the end but I do not understand, I ask some dude to tell me is that meaning that I need to go to train he sad yes yes run he is leaving…I idiot rune in and sit.. after two station I realized that I’m going back to place I took a bus, run out and wait train to go back, no body except me on station, I do not have idea is there more trains.. nothing nothing.. dark, cold, pain from bags, tired from non sleeping and and annoying from all… but train come and I come back to town… but now I need to find a number of my contact person that she can contact my host family to come and pick me up, but normally NO, I do not have it, so let´s find internet…. I can tell you do not try that in Grenno you will not have positive result.. after 3 hour of walking and asking I found some bar where is allowed to connect, I seat and try…try… try… nothing L L that was a breaking moment when only thin in head was I need find some place to sleep… in 20 minutes some dud pass by and just say hello I ask him can he help me with internet, and he disappear for 5 minutes and come back say follow me I can help yes yes yes yes yes yes yes finally some good thing happen… in some apartment of some girl I took a number from my e-mails call contact person and she call host family….. they come after half a hour and picked me up…. Conny and Kjeld picked me up, take to new home.. I come in and realize that there is four more people, daughter (Pia) her husband (frank) and baby, son and his girlfriend, little to much for first few minutes but then we start meet each other and story just start prolongs to late night hours…. |

i´m sorry i didn´t write but at first i had problem with connecting on blog, this was 3 time that i need to change my pass... really anoing.... but i record everythng so there is no more problem´s (i hope so) |

Everything is ready for the road

I have been packing my t-shirts and I remembered I also had more stuff in the car :) Well, I am very excited to gaining new experience from the next 11 months. I also recieved this e-mail that was giving me the green light - read on: ================================================== "Dear Nikola Great to hear that you are getting ready for Denmark. We have now decided invite you to start your stay with the host family we mentioned earlier to you. They live outside Grenaa, about 15 km, only 18 minutes by bus. The family is: Conni and Kjeld Skov. They have a son, Kim who just moved back home and started school/studies in Grenaa. Their daughter, Pia is not living at home Řrum Djurs, Denmark " ====================================================== Can't wait to meet them all and find out more about the culture and the ways this people live. To see Denmark will be times to remember. Still can't get good weather for going fishing :) There are only 4 days remaining. My first destination is Copenhagen. I am going to meet Vivi. I will keep you informed what will be going on with my first opportunity when I get there. Keep you informed :) |
